Desktop Notifications for Stack Exchange is an add-on for Firefox. This add-on makes it easy for you to get notified about any new message on your Stack Exchange account in real-time. With this add-on, you won't have to remember to check your emails, chats, or notifications.
The add-on is available on both Chrome and Firefox.

How does it work?
When you install the add-on, you will be prompted to add your Stack Exchange account. Next, you will be required to set a StackExchange API token and optionally to use StackExchange's mechanism to grant an API token. You will be given a warning that you should only set a StackExchange ID without granting the token. If you proceed, you will be given the API token to use.
To use the add-on, just open the options page and enter your credentials (which will be saved in the browser), and you will be notified about any new message in real-time.
